We are devoted to helping the struggling home chef bring new life into the kitchen and onto the dinner table.

We believe that the best way to learn is by doing, in your own kitchen, with your own tools.

We also know that you need to learn, when you're ready to learn.

We also hear that you're on a budget, and can't afford the expensive lessons or group classes.

Vonnie is the affordable, instant accessibility way to learn how to cook.

Vonnie is named after our founder's grandma, who loved to cook delicious meals for her children and grandchildren. Her passion for food, cooking, and hospitality blessed all those she came in contact with, and we're passing on the love and passion to you.

Vonnie adored making meals for her children and grandchildren, as you can see them gathered around the buffet and table above.

Vonnie passed away a decade ago, but her legacy and love for feeding others will live on through the Vonnie apps.

About Our Founder

Erin Chase has been helping busy, overwhelmed home chefs for a decade.

She founded $5 Dinners in 2008, and has been on a mission to help shoppers spend less money on groceries, while making delicious budget friendly meals for their families.

Her greater goal is to make dinner more enjoyable for millions of households.

A key part of bringing joy back to the dinner table is teaching cooking lessons. She hears every day "I don't like to cook, but I think it's because I don't know how to cook."

Her unique approach to teaching cooking lessons via livestream video and instant access will help her reach those millions of households who need it.

Learn to Cook "with Grandma!"

We're bringing modern day technology to connect you in your kitchen with our expert Instructors.

We'll connect you with a cooking pro (who may or may not be a grandma!) who can assist you in learning valuable cooking skills.

Our preset cooking curriculum and the carefully selected meals in the Vonnie app will allow you to both put a delicious meal on the table at the end of your lesson, and you'll be equipped with the knowledge and skills needed for future meals made in your kitchen.

How it Works

With Vonnie, you can...

Vonnie works with 2 different mobile apps that talk to each other.

If you wish to learn to cook, you can purchase lessons via the Student app and call for help from one of our Vonnie Instructors. Students cook in their own kitchens, while Instructors assist via livestream video.

If you wish to teach, you can apply and Instructors can set their own hours and receive lesson requests on their own schedule, from their own homes.
